sometimes i wonder
who sews the flowers
on these motel bed spreads
and on the pillowcases
and i want that person
whoever they are
to assemble the arrangements
at my wake and stay
for the ceremony so they know
me the open casket door
the mourning father
the devoted mother
sobbing the lost sister
i mean really this stitching
is impeccable
