waving off advances for 6 months until
it is june & I am high & craving your hand.
trace the raised places with something
good where the bad hands were – not
wanting to walk the 2 blocks home.
we do not sleep

 

together until the next morning.
I wanted you to learn to read
the kind of caution the girl takes
in every book I have ever given you
or written myself into.

 

for a month I cradle the sunrise of that 1st
mo(u)rning, with you in my mouth.
you invite yourself to watch
sennah & a. read on canada day
it is good that it rained.

 

everything happens at once. I am familiar
with this subtle and sudden imploding
this short story ending, you will remember.
in the movie Ever After drew barrymore says:
“a fish may love a bird señore, but
where would they live?”
