Wassim Hage

09 Dec Wassim Hage

ochre arms riveted and arrayed against
kaleidoscopic funk, there is a circle
and a thumping tide, a lilypad in the bed
turtle flank in the pond to parry the perfect roots

a blossoming of an ant hill is mere choir such
beg tell how chrome voices climb earth to ring
so, beg for rain mercury to plug the chambers
to rend the maze memoriam, that is a poem

not the point of lunar berserk, but to vie my love
so let me show you, step closer in the rain
as a baboon wielding thunder rods and
as a smoke room with savory cloud, come
magnets have nothing in portrait zone
stripped bare, like a lone tree in a storm

Wassim Hage is a student at the University of Texas, studying botany and mathematics and Arabic. Other poems of Wassim’s can be found in Raw Paw Vol. 6 :: Alien.
