like a chair with

flowers carved into it

this good music

was good for

forgetting

the ex-boyfriends

are bathing

in the dark

imagining

what objects

they will hold

at chest-level

when they are old

even if nothing

is wrong

even if

their souls

are a mouth inside

a mouth

for 3000 days

we were going

to share

a whole apple

you didn’t

want to be

a girl walking

backward

through a field

the day is just

as nice in

the city as

it is in the country

other boys

are tying knots

in the air
