GRAY PIGEON
together
early morning
eating cereal mix
in the park by the empty fountain
you pass me a peanut
then a cashew,
then another peanut.
and i realize
that i like the way your voice sounds
through 4 M&Ms.
you explain the plot of a movie
while i wipe crumbs off my leggings
and watch a bug crawl to the center of your star of David tattoo.
i don’t think anyone released an album this year
that is better than listening to
hungover people
walk home in light rain.
LINT
if you don’t want to that’s fine
but can you come back
from Connecticut on Tuesday instead of Thursday?
when you get here
let’s press our tongues
against the window of Jamba Juice
at around 4pm when it’s always really crowded
and then we can stand
in front the icon of the inexhaustible cup
for like,
5 or 6 minutes,
while we wait for our strawberry pop tarts to be done.
i have a lot to tell you.
in the time you’ve been gone
i’ve learned from sci-fi films
that dying from getting sucked out of a space station
is oddly calming.
it is quiet
like when you don’t realize
that the volume on your phone is turned off.
it is also dark
like everything else that is dark
BANANA BOX
if we are going to the club tonight
i only want to dance to
“Lean Back”
by Fat Joe
because it’s a very non-stressful song
to dance to.
